Michele's obituary

Michele Colavitti, born on January 31, 1972, passed away on March 16, 2023. A cherished sister, mother, daughter, and partner, she is survived by her sister, Caroline Colavitti; her daughter, Sophia Mallett; her mother, Christa Colavitti; and her partner, Jeff Mallett. Michele was predeceased by her father, Juan Carlos Colavitti.

As a graduate of Los Gatos High School in 1990, Michele realized her ultimate goal of becoming a Chef eight years later, when she graduated from the San Francisco's California Culinary Academy- a branch of Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts. She was a sous chef at the world-renowned Rainbow Room in Rockefeller Center, New York.  She returned to the Bay Area and continued to hone her skills as a sous chef at Farallon in San Francisco and Neumanali in the East Bay.

Michele moved out of the Bay Area and found her happy place near San Luis Obispo in Nipomo. Her hobbies included cooking, running, and spending time at the beach with family and friends. She and Jeff welcomed their pride & joy, Sophia Caroline in 2011. Michele was a devoted mother that loved and nurtured her daughter so much. She enthusiastically supported Sophia's dreams and goals in education and athletics, most recently shouting-out her pride in Sophia's soccer skills.  With a love for all animals, Michele often spent time playing, rescuing, and caring-for animals.

Michele was best loved her for her huge smile, friendliness, kindness, caring, compassion, stubborn nature, and sun-tanned legs! Her warm presence and electric smile reached out and touched the hearts of many. Her laugh, her gentle kindness for the underdog, & her confidence to feed hundreds (and do it well!); she will be greatly missed by family and friends alike.

A Celebration of Life for Michele will be held on May 7, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Rio Del Mar Beach. Please join us in remembering and honoring the life of this remarkable woman, as we say our final farewells and share stories of Michele's impact on each of our lives.
