It is with great sadness that the family of Michele Marie (Aubert) Jakubowski announces her passing on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at the age of 64. She passed away at home with her children after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Michele was the eldest child of Charles Aubert and Janice (Sims) Aubert. Michele grew up in Hastings, Nebraska, where she formed lifelong friendships and a foundation of strength and independence. As a young woman, Michele met Theodore Jakubowski in Grand Island, Nebraska. They married, setting the stage for a life filled with love, challenges, and the joy of raising four children: Jeramiah, Zachary, Melissa, and their eldest, Charles, who passed away prior to birth. Michele's hobbies and interests were as vibrant as her personality. She was a loving mother and wife who was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her loved ones. She also enjoyed trivia, reading, listening to music, and, most importantly, spending time with her children. Michele is survived by her husband, Theodore Jakubowski; children Jeramiah Jakubowski, Zachary Jakubowski, and Melissa Jakubowski; and her sisters, Denise (Aubert) Burmood and Patricia Bigley. Michele's life was enriched by numerous nephews, nieces, in-laws, and friends who will miss her dearly. Michele was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Janice Aubert; her brother, Michael Bigley; and her son, Charles Jakubowski. Her legacy is a testament to her resilience, love, and spirited nature. A memorial to celebrate Michele's life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, in Denver, Colorado. The family will host a weekend gathering from June 6-9, with Michele's memorial as the centerpiece on June 8. Please contact the immediate family for more details and to express interest in attending. Tenacity, love, and a joyous spirit defined Michele's life. In place of a formal memorial fund, the family asks that those wishing to honor Michele's memory do so through acts of kindness, sharing a meal with loved ones, or enjoying music that brings joy, as she often did. To all who knew her, Michele was a remarkable woman whose legacy will continue to inspire and resonate. Her life can be summed up in three words: Love, Resilience, and Joy.
