Michael's obituary
Mike grew up in Sandy, graduating from Hillcrest High in 2000. During his sophomore year, he joined the ice hockey team. He was injured in one of the first games, requiring a quick visit to the ER where a large tumor was discovered with a diagnosis of Hodgkins Lymphoma. Even while receiving chemotherapy, he continued his studies, so he could graduate with his friends.
Michael was a Make-A-Wish recipient, given a Wish Trip to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania where he participated as a Civil War Re-enactor. This experience helped Mike as he completed his radiation therapy treatments.
Mike was an Elder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved scouting with his Dad. He was an Eagle Scout and a staff member for Junior Leader Training at East Fork of the Bear.
Michael has been blessed with his two beautiful daughters who added love without ceasing and joy to his life.
He is survived by his two daughters, Abigail (6) and Elizabeth (3), parents, sister Christi (Matt) Banks, and nephews Matthew, Jackson, Anderson, and a large extended family. Also survived by his girlfriend Angela Peterson.
A public viewing will be held Friday evening, August 18th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Larkin Mortuary in Riverton, 3688 W. 12600 S. Riverton, Utah. The funeral will be held Saturday, August 19th at 11 a.m. in the Aurora Vista Ward, 14868 Juniper Crest Road, Herriman, Utah. A viewing will also be held from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral service at the chapel.
