Mike's obituary

We regret to inform of the passing of Michael Wayne, who died on January 18, 2025. His friends and family called him Mike. Mike was born shortly after his twin brother Russell on September 11, 1946 in Los Angeles, CA. He grew up in La Mirada with his six siblings, Russell, Lynne, Pamela, Thomas, Terry and Sherry and their parents Gordon and Mary.  Mike attended La Mirada High School and shortly thereafter, took a few courses at Cerritos Community College. Mike began dating Linda (Lin) Elgin and they married September 19, 1970. A few years later, they welcomed their first born, a son, Matthew Scott Wayne and two years later their daughter, Devon Nichole Wayne (Stumps). The four of them lived primarily in Encino, California. If you knew the Waynes then you knew their love for family and fun. Family gatherings were always big and full of love, laughter, and alcohol.

Mike and Lin were married for over 54 years. During their more than 5 decades of marriage, they bought and sold a few homes, bought a few properties and built a cabin on the one in Big Bear.   After retiring, he and Lin traveled the world, visiting several countries and continents.

During his 78 years, Mike accomplished many things but most notably, Regal Glass which he co-founded with Jack Heald  in 1976 and Mike took over the company making Regal Glass Incorporated in 1985. In 2017, he retired and closed the doors to Regal Glass and this chapter in his life.  During the 35 years of operation, Mike and his crew had a few adventures outside of the "office". He took his guys on a few fishing, skiing, and whitewater rafting  trips, and of course those who knew Regal knew the daily "beer-thirty" hour or were a part of their practical jokes or shenanigans.

The funeral service for Mike will take place on March 8, 2025, at 2:30 PM at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills Memorial. It will be an opportunity for all who knew him to pay their last respects and celebrate the life of a remarkable man. Shortly after the funeral service, an intimate gathering will be held at the same location at 3:45 PM for the interment ceremony.

A reception in honor of Mike will be held that evening at 5:00 PM (location to be provided). All who wish to join in celebrating Mike's life and achievements are welcome to attend.

Mike will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
