Michael Joseph “Mike/Mickey” Walsh, age 90, of Plainville, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on March 21, 2026.
Born to the late Michael and Mary Walsh of Ireland and South Boston, Michael lived a long and full life defined by devotion to his family, his faith, and the simple joys that brought him happiness each day. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Doris (Dunn) Walsh, with whom he shared many cherished years in South Boston, Easton, and Plainville; his sister, Patricia Walsh Smith of Indiana; and his son, Kevin Walsh of Norwood.
Michael is survived by his sisters, Barbara Walsh Sances of Billerica and Margaret Walsh of South Boston. He is also survived by his loving children: Diane Walsh St. Jean of North Attleboro; Michael Walsh and his partner, Margaret Itri, of South Boston; Mary Louise McCarthy of Plainville; Richard Walsh and his wife, Carol Walsh, of Punta Gorda, Florida; and his loving niece, Susan Dunn Bisson, and her husband, Claude Bisson, of Hampden. He was a proud grandfather of 10 grandchildren and their various furry friends.
A graduate of Northeastern University, Michael dedicated his professional life to a long and steady career in telecommunications. He worked for nearly 44 years with Western Electric, New England Telephone, NYNEX, and Bell Atlantic. He was respected for his strong work ethic, reliability, and quiet commitment to doing things the right way. He also served in the Navy Reserve.
Beyond his career, Michael will be remembered for his deep love of animals, his gentle spirit, and his unwavering Catholic faith. He lived with humility and kindness, guided by his beliefs and a genuine care for others.
Michael’s legacy is one of devotion—to his family, his faith, and the life he built through perseverance and love. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on April 7th at 11:00 am at Saint Martha’s in Plainville, Ma.
