Michael Andrew Voss III (Mike) US Army ret, age 72 went home to be with the Lord, Oct. 6, 2020. He served 12 years active duty and was a Vietnam vet. He served an additional 16 years in the Army reserve. He served as an Al. Dept of Corrections officer for 28 years until his retirement in Dec. of 2012.
He is survived by his favorite sister Margaret Richards, and brother Dale. His beloved wife of 47 years, Teresa. He told anyone who would listen that she was his great love. He adored his whole giant extended family and especially his daughters, Misty Thigpen and her husband Keith, Melody Burden and her husband, John. His favorite people in the world were his grandkids, granddaughter, Monique Clark, grandson and namesake, Drew (Michael Andrew) and Roman Burden. His partner in crime and mischief was his great grandson, Jensen.
His mother and sisters in law became his true mother and sisters and he was always included in girls activities. Even if it was just to play chauffeur , bag carrier, coffee barrista or comic relief.
His passing has left a giant hole is all of our lives. He will always be remembered for his goofy sense of humor and his bigger than life personality.
The celebration of his life will be Sunday at 3 pm Winchester Road Baptist Church, 1262 Winchester Rd. Huntsville, Al. 35811. Viewing will be at 2pm.
