Michael's obituary
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and friend. Michael Jonathan Vinson passed away on April 4, 2025, at the age of 73. He was the fourth of six children born to Elvis and Randolyn Vinson of Graysville, Alabama.
Dedicated to his family, he treasured his 43 years of marriage to his wife, Charlene, and cherished his son, Canon. A 1971 graduate of Woodlawn High School, he built a diverse career spanning 44 years as a plumber, HVAC technician, and multicraft mechanic at Sloss Industries, where he was known for "fixing everything that was broke." His willingness to help anyone in need was matched only by his passion for fishing, golf, and carpentry—he found true joy in working with his hands and in his numerous projects over the years, which included remodeling his homes. In recent years, his loyal dog and constant companion, Tiger, brought him great comfort. His legacy of craftsmanship, generosity, and unwavering love for his family will be remembered by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Charlene Vinson; his son, Canon Vinson; his brother, Jerry Vinson, and his wife, Mary; his sister, Millie Freeman; and his sisters-in-law, Christie Thomas and Cheri Bolinger. He is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews: Ann, Jack, Janet, Kathryn, Kelly, Melissa, Michael, Robyn, James, and Spencer; as well as 15 great-nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
