Michael Eugene Umphress, age 67, of Abilene formerly of Sweetwater passed away Sunday, September 12, 2021 at his home.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, September 16, 2021 at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. Vic Meyer officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.

Mike was born September 16, 1954 at Wolfe City, Texas to the late William Eugene and Billie Jo (McCaslin) Umphress. He married Sherrie Williams December 29, 2016 at Abilene. He was a welder/ tractor mechanic for many years. Mike had lived in San Angelo and was involved with the San Angelo Trail Ride and the San Angelo Livestock Show and Rodeo for many years. He was also a past member of the Elks Lodge.

Mike is survived by his wife; Sherrie of Abilene, children; Michele Schkade and husband Greg of San Angelo, Robin Barton and husband Rick of Sweetwater, Ted Umphress and wife Kandace of Big Spring, his sister; Darlene Freeman of San Antonio, 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a sister and a grandson.

Pallbearers will be Ted Umphress, Greg Schkade, Kyle Doty, Dustin Woolf, Katcher Umphress and Cash Umphress.
