Michael's obituary
Michael "Mike" Alan Tully passed away at age 76 on August 20th, 2022 in Asheville, NC after a brief illness. Mike was preceded in death by his parents Alan Tully and Hazel (Bradstreet) Tully, as well as his brother Patrick Tully and sister Stacia (Tully) Larson. Mike is survived by his extended family from Nebraska including his sister Brenda (Tully) Hall, brother-in-law Llyod Larson, as well as his sons Quinn Tully (NY) and Shea Tully (FL), and his granddaughter Olivia Tully (FL) - all of whom he loved dearly.
Mike was born on December 29th, 1945 in Grand Island, Nebraska. He graduated from Grand Island High School in 1963 and from the University of Nebraska in 1967 with a degree in Economics. After college, Mike joined the US Army to fight in Vietnam. Mike was proud of his service to his country and bravely fought for freedom earning a bronze star for his heroism on the battlefield.
Mike experienced firsthand the toll war can take on veterans, so he made it his life's mission to advocate for homeless veterans. Mike had a brilliant mind and worked tirelessly for decades with various organizations to get homeless veterans the help they need, especially when it came to housing. Mike helped countless people on the street in so many ways, and his legacy continues to this day.
In his free time, Mike loved watching baseball and football, especially when the Cornhuskers played. Mike was also an avid hiker who enjoyed being outdoors and exploring new cities and parks.
