Michael's obituary

Michael Timothy, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on July 19, 2025, in Daytona, Florida. Born on December 7, 1962, in Roseau, Dominica, to John and Magdalene Timothy, Michael was the youngest of sixteen children in a large, close-knit family rooted in love and resilience.

From a young age, Michael displayed a deep entrepreneurial spirit. At just 15 years old, he began selling fruit across the Caribbean islands, sparking what would become a lifelong journey in business. Over the decades, he built a remarkable legacy as a serial entrepreneur, with ventures spanning multiple industries. He was especially known in Dominica for his trailblazing role in the fashion industry, where his bold style, creativity, and leadership left a lasting mark.

At 23, Michael immigrated to the United States, first settling in Philadelphia before making his home in the Orlando area. For over 30 years, he ran small businesses with vision, ambition, and charisma. To many, he was more than a businessman—he was a mentor, an encourager, and a source of wisdom always ready with advice and support.

Michael had a vibrant personality that lit up every room. He was outspoken, thoughtful, wise, and endlessly full of life. He loved nature and took joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as basking in the sun and enjoying mangoes in his yard. He was deeply curious and engaged with the world, often staying informed through his favorite programs on MSNBC and Q95.

Above all, Michael was devoted to his family. He was a loving husband to his wife of 24 years, Francia Timothy, and a proud father and grandfather. He cherished every moment spent with his children and grandchildren—especially watching cartoons with the little ones and creating joyful memories filled with laughter and love.

Michael leaves behind a legacy of compassion, perseverance, and inspiration. His presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered. He is survived by his loving wife, Francia Timothy, and his children: Kian Timothy, Nitchelle Hordge (and husband Donald Hordge), McHale Timothy, McKavin Timothy, McKelly Timothy, Dhanyl Timothy, Ahkeel Timothy, and Tarik Timothy.

He was a proud grandfather to Jayden Weaver, Naomi Hordge, Natalie Hordge, Donald Hordge III, Keyanna Zobuhle-Timothy, and Micah Torres-Timothy.

Michael is also survived by his siblings: Rosaline Timothy, Ferdinand Timothy, Ronald Timothy & Anne Timothy, Rosalyn Samuel & Augustus Samuel, Gabriel Timothy, Gloria Timothy, John Timothy Jr. & Martina Timothy, Jeffrey Timothy & Norma Timothy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Magdalene Timothy.

His extended family includes many nieces, nephews and cousins such as Garvin Timothy, Sandra Jarvis, Egbert Isaac, Patricia Williams, the Metor family and many others too numerous to mention. As well as his cherished brothers-in-law: Farley Riviere & Justina Riviere, Donald Riviere & Anthea Riviere, Robert Dangleben, Davis Dangleben, Rodney Dangleben, John-Baptiste Dangleben, Sampson Lazare, and Peterson Thomas.

Michael was also a beloved godfather to Shanel Dangleben, Akihah Andre and Dylan Hypolite, and a treasured friend to Cyrus Moses, Robertson Hypolite, and Benjamin Shillingford.

We celebrate Michael’s life with immense gratitude. His laughter, strength, and spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Rest in peace, Michael. Your light lives on in all of us.
