Michael's obituary
Michael John “Mike” Talbot
February 20, 1951 – June 20, 2025
Michael John Talbot, lovingly known as Mike, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025, at the age of 74 in Palm Bay, Florida. Born on February 20, 1951, in Duncanville, Texas, Mike was the son of Vera and Frank Talbot. He grew up near Parsons, Kansas where he graduated from Labette County High School and began a life marked by creativity, hard work, and devotion to family.
He is survived by his wife, Denise Talbot; his daughters, Lara Wainscott and her husband Han Oksuz, and Tina Dowd Garretson and her husband Michael Garretson; and his grandchildren Destinee, Jordan, and Brayden and great granddaughter Remi. He is also lovingly remembered by his brother David Talbot and his wife Gloria, along with his adopted sisters Judy and Evan, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Vera, son Michael Talbot and his sister Kathy Woolfolk and brother Leslie Talbot.
Mike lived across Texas, Kansas, Kentucky, and Florida, always bringing his warmth, humor, and generous spirit to those around him. He was a talented craftsman and woodworker who could build or fix anything—from restoring cars to designing furniture. Whether he was carving wood in his workshop or riding his beloved Harley-Davidson, Mike found joy in creating beauty and living freely.
Mike lived with love and a warm heart. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, kindness, and deep loyalty. He left us too soon, but we find comfort in believing that he is now walking beside us in heaven—no doubt working as a carpenter with Jesus.
In lieu of flowers or donations, we invite you to help us remember Mike by sharing a story or photo with us. In honoring his life, we celebrate the extraordinary man he was and the beautiful family he leaves behind. He is deeply loved and will remain so, always.
Ephesians 3:17-19
New King James Version
17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
