Michael David Smarr, age 42, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022.

Michael was born in Alliance, OH on August 12, 1979. He lived and grew up in Rome, GA. Michael proudly served and retired as a Combat Medic from the United States Army. He deployed and was a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was admired by many and recognized for his commitment, accomplishments, and sacrifices throughout his career. His multiple active-duty assignments allowed him to pursue and develop his passion for nature, adventure, teaching and helping others. Michael was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend. He loved his family and closest of friends, and he will be missed by all. He loved his hobbies and spending time outdoors by camping, fishing, snowboarding, hiking or going on road trips. 

We, the family ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his memory to assist with any funeral/burial arrangements and other expenses that may not be covered, as needed.  Any remainder will be distributed by the family to organizations that meant the most to him, like St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and others.
