Michael's obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Shouse Sr on December 8, 2023. Born on December 16, 1953, Michael lived a full and impactful life, remembered for his resilience, tenacity, and unwavering work ethic.

Michael is survived by his wife, Lynn Shouse, to whom he was married in 1982. He leaves behind his devoted daughter Lauren Shouse, son Michael Shouse JR, cherished granddaughter Carolyn Wrigglesworth, and grandson Michael Shouse III. He is predeceased by his late son, Matthew Shouse. His memory will live on through his beloved family and many friends.

Graduating from Glen Este High School, OH in 1972, Michael soon joined the Marine Corps in 1973, demonstrating his enduring commitment to service and community. His collaborative spirit enabled him to work with Tom McClanahan in 1985 to establish El Coyote, further rooting his legacy in the community. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to open Miguel's in 2003, a beloved local establishment. His dedication to progress and rebuilding was evident when he rebuilt his home after a devastating tornado in 1997.

Throughout his life, Michael was a jack of all trades, always ready to lend a hand. Whether tending to his family, his businesses, or the oasis he created from the wilderness at Big Indian (frequently from atop his faithful tractor), Michael instilled a strong work ethic in those around him. Later, he joined McHale's in 2014, further extending his professional landscape.

Michael's legacy lies in his hard work and dedication, which have profoundly impacted those who had the privilege of knowing him. His commitment to service, his community, and most importantly, his family, will never be forgotten. His passing leaves a void in the many lives he touched, yet we are comforted by the many memories we hold dear. Michael Shouse will be deeply missed.
