Additionally, Mike leaves behind many cherished friends, co-workers and students who were fortunate to know his amazing personality, his warmth, generosity and contagious smile.
In his 29-year career with Indian Prairie School District (IPSD) 204, over one thousand fifth graders experienced Mike’s boundless enthusiasm for teaching. In addition to the classroom, his teaching passion extended to both the Chess and Strategy Club as well as the Robotics Club. IPSD enjoyed Mike’s energetic (loud) and creative dedication at several elementary schools including Owen, Young, Patterson and Longwood. Years after children had moved on beyond fifth grade, Mike was repeatedly honored by students as their most influential teacher. Many kept in touch over the decades. He also received the A+ award through IPEF.
