I miss you Mike.  So many reminders, so many times I wish I could share something with you....I miss you snarkiness, your humor, and your unconditional friendship. I hope you are enjoying your travels in the great beyond.

Thank you for everyone who could attend Mike's Celebration of Life at LynLake Brewery. If you'd like, you can add your stories you all shared at the open mic here.

"Hi, I'm Alexa and I'm one of Mike's daughter-in-laws.

Thank you all for being here to celebrate Mike's life with us - it's heartwarming to see so many people from different parts of Mike's life come together to honor such an awesome person. It's abundantly clear just how deeply Mike touched everyone he knew, and listening to your stories brings us comfort, even through our tears.

I'm reminded of just how passionate and vibrant a person he was. Mike was a man of many loves and interests, and his enthusiasm for life was infectious, something I see in my husband, Alex. If there's one thing I've learned from Mike, it's the value of embracing every new experience with zest and excitement, just as he did.

Not only did Mike value new experiences, he also enjoyed teaching others. He was the one who introduced me to colorful language when I would join him and Alex on their Tuesday night dinners in high school. I’d never heard a grown up swear before.

Mike and I shared a mutual love for Broadway musicals, and it brought him immense joy to see his son, Alex, finally come around to enjoying them too. It was a shared passion that brought us closer and created many cherished memories together and I hope you all can enjoy some of his favorite songs from Broadway while we are here at LynLake.

One thing you couldn't deny about Mike was his ability to tell a good story. His stories were legendary – both excellent and lengthy – and I can't help but smile when I think of the countless hours we spent listening to him weave his tales.

One of the greatest joys in Mike's life was undoubtedly his two children... and I really think he liked their wives, too!

Beyond his passions and stories, Mike was a dreamer. He had big plans for the future and could talk for hours about his aspirations. It's heartbreaking to know that some of those dreams will remain unfulfilled, but one dream he cherished deeply was the simple joy of hosting his family for a meal around his own dining room table. I'm incredibly grateful that we were able to make that dream a reality this past Christmas, creating a cherished memory that I'll hold dear forever.

As we reflect on Mike's life today, let's remember that his legacy lives on through his sons, his granddaughter, and in all of our memories. Though he may no longer be with us in person, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us."

March 19th will always remind me of Lemon Cake and Michael’s birthday. Almost every birthday picture has one- just more candles 🩷
Mike and I met through mutual friends in our early years at Loras College in Dubuque. We had similar backgrounds, we both grew up on farms, had many siblings, and most importantly, same sense of humor! We laughed. A. Lot. We lost touch for several years but reconnected via FB and finally in person again. Time melted away and we picked up right where we left off.  I will miss you so much, and my deepest sympathy to your family. He loved you with his whole being and he will live on through each of you.

I am very sorry for your loss!! Mike was a Wells Fargo work friend who I always enjoyed and loved. He came to my home once and played my baby grand until he brought tears to my eyes.  Mike was a good friend!
I am so sorry for your loss. Mike was always helpful and entertaining at our sorority and scrapbooking events back in the day. You all have our deepest sympathies.
I was saddened to hear the news of Mike. We became friends in 2016, meeting at a conference called Simple Rev, and later getting to know each other through a weekly hiking group. Mike entered my life at a beautiful time of transition for us both. I enjoyed our conversations, hiking, biking, and randomly running into him around town.Mike recently saw my husband and talked about wanting to get another hike on the calendar. I plan to do one of my favorite Mike hikes and bike rides this summer to honor his amazing spirit. My sincerest sympathy goes to everyone who was impacted by this great loss.

He was a wonderful co-worker at the Hennepin Ave Theatres.  We had some fun the last time Lion King was in Mpls.  The actor playing Mufasa had a deep roaring laugh when Mike and I set out my big  and little Scooby with a head dress I knitted on the trash bin near the aisle he was going down.  I will miss him.
I had known Mike since the early 80’s, and my ex husband and I were very close with Mike and Marie back then. Mike always made me laugh and had such a goofy, self-deprecating demeanor, but was also a very supportive and dear friend. You will be missed, buddy. Hugs to your family. 💜

Mike shared many beautiful memories with me and my daughters. This is one of my favories and one where he stepped out from behind the camera.
