Dee and I loved talking with Mike at all the family things thru the years. He was always so nice and had a great smile. He will be missed by many.

I loved Coach Reardon. He was our assistant football coach and head baseball coach when I was at Granite. He’d always catch me pulling out a treat like a Twinkie out of my locker and he’d tell me to stop eating junk. He said I’d regret it someday when I had a lower metabolism. At our awards banquet he gave me the “Produce” award. He said it was partly for offensive production, but mostly because I need to eat more produce and less junk food! He was absolutely my favorite coach of every high school coach that I had. He was just an amazing man.

I soke to him a few years ago to thank him for the love and encouragement he showed me. He spent time guiding me, regularly. Coach Reardon invited me to live with him when I was kicked off the football team my senior year. offering to help me earn my HS diploma in the process. The investments he made in me will never be forgotten. He pushed me to graduate, which eventually opened the door to the Marine Corps and much more. He inspired me to help the disadvantage, something I hold dear to my heart. Thank you Coach, I will continue the good work you started in me to the end. Z

The "In Memory" of Mike describes him so beautifully. He was a dear friend, confidant, and "buddy", going way back to when I first met him in a guitar class at Las Sendas. His love of music was galvanizing. He was a founding and original member of "Fight Club". He inspired all with whom he played, as well as the musicians whose music he took delight in watching live. Mike's witt, humility and kindness were cloaked in humor and honesty. He always spoke of Kathy, and his pride in his family. He would share their individual triumphs with infectious enthusiasm. We shared gardening stories, teaching experiences, doggie-love-tales, and our wonder and thankfulness of the art of music. Seeing Mike always made my day. He loved my husband Dom, who always said, "Mike, with that hair and a suit, you could be a Don." Dom and I send our love to family and friends. I feel so fortunate that life brought such a golden person in, to brighten it.

I Had the privilege to be coached by Coach Reardon at Granite High. If it wasn’t for Coach Reardon giving me a chance to play defense for him then I probably wouldn’t have been able to go on and play college ball at SUU. I played O-line but never was quite big enough. Coach Reardon gave me a chance on the D-line, because of that SUU recruited me as a D-end.
After I got done playing ball, I then got the opportunity to help coach with Coach Reardon at Cottonwood High for a season. His influence on me and my life I still feel today.
Coach you have built an everlasting legacy because of the many lives you have touched!! I’m thankful that I was one of them.
My condolences got out to his family, friends, and loved ones . He will be deeply missed and forever remembered in our hearts

I got to play for coach at Cottonwood. As a quarterback we spent a lot of time together for those three years. His dry sense of humor and straight forward style was something that I always respected. There are several funny phases that probably shouldn’t be repeated here that I still use weekly! Haha If you were ever making excuses he would look at you with a straight face and say “If your aunt had balls she’d be your uncle” That’s one my kids have heard their whole lives. Haha As everyone knows he was a huge Notre Dame and Lou Holtz Fan! My Jr year he took me to football camp at Norte Dame and coach Holtz gave us tickets to the ND vs BYU game. Core memories for sure. I’m so grateful to have been one of his many players and one of so many that he encouraged and influenced. Guaranteed he’s up there chilling with touch down Jesus! Rest in peace coach.

I had the privilege to have Coach Reardon Coach me for two years at Granite High in Football and Baseball he truly was a great motivator and just cared for his athletes. After playing in College I reached out to him and Dr. Long when they were at Cottonwood to see if I could student teach with him. He showed me what it took to be a great teacher and love all students and how to treat your athletes. I did get to coach with him while there in the spring doing baseball and spring football. So glad I had that experience with him. Prayers to his family at this time. Remember all the fun times you had with him.

The fun we had is legend.
I and all who had the pleasure of knowing him will sorely miss Mike. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, and wonderful wife Kathy.
Our prayers are with you.

I am so sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. He was my dad’s best friend since high school. I have 2 vivid memories of him. One was when I was a teenager we floated the Green River with him and David. I either caught the biggest fish I have ever caught and it broke my line or, I had a huge snag that broke my line. I prefer to go with the first story. It sounds better. The other time was when we visited him when he was staying at his mom’s house in Tooele. I don’t remember why we were visiting him, but I remember him telling me that I had beautiful hands. This meant a lot to me because I bit my nails all my life until I was 18. I decided to stop biting them and my nails grew out and they were beautiful, however nobody ever told me that. I was proud of myself and was glad that someone noticed. He was always a very special person in my dad’s life and I grew up knowing that he was more like a brother to my dad than a best friend. They were planning a “mature” man fishing trip this coming weekend as Mike had told my dad that he would be visiting Utah. I was trying to make sure that the two of them were not planning to fish a river as they are too “mature” to do so and it was not safe for the two of them on a river. Well, I hope Mike is fishing in heaven this weekend instead.

Mike and I coached together at Granite High School in SLC, he was the best assistant coach I have ever had, and our time together as coaches has become a lifelong friendship. So sad to see him go, much love to his family for sharing him with me, we will all miss him greatly. Coach Mark Nielson
