Michael's obituary
Michael Orin Miller passed away at the young age of 65 peacefully at his home in Griffin Georgia. He was born June 16, 1958, at the Old Osteopathic Hospital in Davenport, Iowa to Robert Eugene Miller Sr. and Genevieve Earlene Wilson Miller. He was the second son of five kids and one of the four “Miller boys”. He spent his childhood in Davenport making memories with his siblings at his family-owned grocery store Cal and Bobs. He often spent time visiting his grandparents in Seymour, Iowa as well as spending summers at Harrah Lake and the Natatorium pool. In 1975, at the tender age of 17, he enlisted to the United States Army and served overseas in Germany, until 1979. While in Germany he mastered his already present guitar skills and hasn’t stopped since. Once out of the Army, his first stop was a Pink Floyd concert where he started putting his ideas in place. He started his own party planning business called Enterprise and was the coordinator of three famous Miller Bashes, which are still talked about today. He was part of multiple bands that he helped start including AIRBORN and OTL. He was known by his long-standing nickname Edgar for his uncanny similarity to Edgar Winter. He was a multi-talented musician who could write amazing songs, sing, play guitars, drums, piano and his all-time favorite – the harmonica. His life kept moving, family and friends got busy with kids and jobs, and one by one his brothers moved to Georgia. He moved in with his sister and helped her with raising her 3 girls which he was amazing at. During this time, he wrote music, ran in the BIX every year, jammed out, was a guinea pig for his sister’s new tattoo endeavors and worked at different print press companies, which started his passion for printing. He fought his battles with alcohol but in 1995, at age 37, he was told for his health he had to stop drinking, which he immediately did with tremendous success. With his new outlook on life, he moved down to Georgia with his brothers to see what life would hold for him down south. He renovated his brother Doug’s barn and moved into the upstairs loft. That barn housed some of the best jamming sessions of his life having a blast with those who matter. Over the next 30 years he established his life in Georgia, worked with his brothers, and eventually followed his dream once again and opened his own printing company known as ASAP Printing which was still in business until he passed. He spent his days playing golf, running his business, playing music, watching sports, and enjoying time with the ones he loved. He never stopped jamming and to this day has never used a tuner on his guitar. In the words of Michael Orin Miller “Eat, Sleep, Play Git”. Those left to honor Michael’s memory are siblings: Douglas Miller (Charlotte), Patrick Miller (Carla), Neila Miller, Rober E. Miller (Brenda). Nine Nieces and Nephews: Chas, Rashell, Amy, Christopher, Carlena, Kirsten, Tara, Robert, and Kevin. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert E. Miller and Genevieve E. Miller.
