We recently did a raft trip with four NU ATO brothers on the Colorado River (Westwater Canyon).  Mike made several raft trips with us over the years, and one beautiful evening on the river, the four of us shared our fond remembrances of him.  He is greatly missed on his 70th birthday!

JT Elder (for fellow Bros Rich Hobson, Dick Krotseng, and Jerry Folz)

I met Michael while we both worked at Malt-O-Meal in 2010. We both had recently moved from out-of-state to work at Malt-O-Meal and met frequently for lunch and dinner while we tried to get acclimated to our new state and new surroundings. He was a joy to work with and an all around great person. I relished talking to Michael as he had a great great deal of knowledge and wisdom on many different topics from packaging equipment engineering to the Bible to evolution to the best type of cars to buy. He was one of the kindest and most considerate persons I ever had the privilege to know and he will be missed. While in Minneapolis, Michael visited our house many times for meals and despite his deteriorating health, he always blew me away in billiards. My sincerest condolences to his family. I wish I would have been able to drive up to Sturgeon Bay before he passed. Brian & Kelli Meyer Apple Valley, MN.

I knew MJ from the ATO house at Northwestern. He was a kind and gentle man. He didn't call attention to himself, but was strong and reliable. He had a great sense of humor and added fun to our parties. I don't remember talking with him about his faith, but I'm not surprised that it was foundational to his character. Thanks be to God for MJ and for God's promises to him. Jeff Newlin

Evanston, IL and various wilderness trips
Mike (MJ to me at first) is a beloved brother and friend. We shared youthful mischief at our ATO house at Northwestern. As an engineer myself I admired his skill and knowledge. He was the punter on our championship football team! We were fortunate to spend several weeks on rivers and lakes in wilderness areas with our friends after starting our working careers. His Green Bay Luau parties were legendary. His humor and spirit will always be with me. I'm heartbroken at his loss and treasure our time. Peace brother, and VTL, Rich Hobson (and Mari Leonard) of Evanston, IL.
I was so sad to hear of Michael’s passing, but he has transitioned from one set of family and friends to another. Some day we will all be together again. Michael was my first cousin, younger than me by 2-1/2 years. I have such happy memories of spending time with him, Mindy, and my late sister, Terrie. I thought we’d never stop laughing as we taped a “soap opera” when we were young teens. It makes me laugh even now as I think about it. I hope your heart quickly finds peace with your dad’s passing, Zori. Time really does heal. Much love to you.
may you rest in peace!
God bless!
