Michael's obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Michael Oberdick, who breathed his last on the 4th of July, 2023, in San Antonio TX. Born in Rahway, NJ in 1955, Michael was a proud, vibrant figure of immense kindness and warmth, known for his happy demeanor, funny quirks, and a kind soul, punctuated by an amazing smile and a heart that embraced everyone who had the fortune to cross paths with him.

Michael is survived by his beloved daughter, Allison (Damian) Pirelli; his grandson, Fredrick Dewees; and his granddaughter, Brianna Brannan. He is also survived by his parents, Cornelious and June (Cherego) Oberdick. A loving brother, Michael leaves behind his siblings Thomas (Janice) Oberdick, Richard Oberdick, Kathy Oberdick, Lori Oberdick, Neil Oberdick, and Lisa Oberdick, along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends nearby all of whom will dearly miss his spirit.

Throughout his life, Michael accomplished a great many things. Notable among them was his distinguished service at Citgo Petroleum and Devine County Animal Control, from which he retired. Michael had an enduring love for all animals and had a special place in his heart for them, especially his horses and pets. His dedication to helping animals was well-known and appreciated by all who knew him.

Beyond his work, Michael was a passionate outdoorsman, with a particular love for fishing and hunting. He reveled in the joys of nature, sharing his passion with others and instilling a sense of respect and love for the natural world.

Michael's jovial personality, coupled with his compassionate demeanor, left a lasting impression on all he interacted with. His absence will be deeply felt, but his memory will live on, mirrored in the hearts of those he touched. Please join us in remembering a wonderful life, sincerely lived. Michael Oberdick, you will be missed by us all. A celebration of life will occur with details to be determined. Memorial contributions may be made to City of Devine "Animal Fund". 303 South Teel  Dr. Devine, Tx 78016
