Michael Edward Mundy of Longmont, Colorado passed away on August 12, 2022 at the age of 71. He, along with his twin brother, was born in Bronx, New York on May 17, 1951 to Louise and Earle Mundy. He graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School in 1969. During his high school years he worked in the neighborhood bike shop. He went to St John's University until he began working for the New York Telephone Company. He married the love of his life, Doris, on August 26, 1972. They started their life together in Boulder, Colorado where they had his greatest legacy, Melissa Allman, Melanie Sexton (Kenny) and Ian Mundy. Those children gave him 5 grandchildren. He started working at Western Field Service in 1972 as a landscaper/irrigation sprinkler designer and in 1979 he began his career with the City of Boulder. He advanced to the position of Park Construction Supervisor where he designed and supervised the construction of new parks and the maintenance of existing parks. He completed his 36 year career at the City of Boulder developing the asset management system that is still in use today. Many of the parks you enjoy today in Boulder have his footprint.
He was a man of many trades. He independently learned how to build, create or fix anything. He changed two houses into beautiful, well landscaped homes for his family. Throughout his life, he enjoyed golfing, reading, drawing, painting, music and above all his family. He was a self taught drummer in his early years in a rock and roll band.
He was our hero. He was our everything.
Michael has 6 brothers, 2 sisters and 25 nieces and nephews. He is survived by his 98 year old mother and he has been reunited with his father in the after life. Services will be on August 27, 2022 at Boscobel House and Gardens in New York at 11am.
