Dear Simone and Family,  I was shocked and deeply saddened to learn of Mike’s passing.  He was charming, clever, smart and such a joy to be with.  Even though it’s been awhile since I have seen him, I feel as though I lost a dear friend.  He was truly a bright light and will be missed by many.
Dear Simone and family, my husband Dave and I are so sorry for your loss.. We are so grieved to hear about Michael's passing. We have always considered him our close friend since we met both of you in the late 80's in San Francisco and starting raising our children around the same time. Michael was a beautiful person with a huge heart and we will miss him deeply.

Oh most beautiful, how could you leave us? why would you leave us? There’s so much that is good

and strong and right with you-wise and dear and precious…

You have done great things in your life, with your life, not a drop to be wasted or thrown askew-

TRULY.

From the days where my sister and i met you at that nazareth high school dance to endless beach

days and waves rolling: You loving the natural world, hollering to me about the toxicity of New York

City...

Upon a car drive to Yale to see the Crucible where and with my sister Angela goes, and the

blossoms white, the abundance of those star magnolia trees, long drive back to New York together

the wind, in our ears speeding us,

Then years later to meet again, we share mutual love and respect of earth amid politic gone wild.

You write to advise to help to government, you caring. It is wise thinking and alive and dynamic. It is

YOU, you did that you motivate you are young your being is effervescent and glows.

Of recent, article on Arthur Miller in New York Review of Books on that play on Crucible the political

moment then, 1950’s, how it is similar, the same again, happening, I couldn’t wait to talk to you

Your exploring your bicycling your love

Simone so beautiful.

I love you both.

Love of land of earth of exploration

You say to me, When I’m not working, Colum, I dance!

You freed me to explore and live my life.

To be other, to be irregular, to not be a 9 to 5’er, to be whoever I wanted to be and you accepted me

and elevate our existence , celebrating life.

Anything else is not you Your being is of light and knowledge

…oh, a confusion, clouds passing, even clouds can be beautiful and eloquent

Always my heart celebrates you.

You so far away in Napa,

Me in New York. I wish I could have said, done, known to help you and all your family with this hard

passage on the rough waters.

Forgive me Mike, Simone, Brennan, Danielle, Marissa. Tell me now what you need, I am listening.

Mike - so many colorful stories. I never tired of hearing him tell of staying at Simone's parents' when they first got together. Mike was a master story teller. But Mike was also a great listener and always there for us, his office mates. Many of us sought his advice and he gave it! Lee

My heart goes out to you Mike and to you his dear family. A friend from high school years in Brooklyn, and for my sister Columbia, a connection that sustained through the years. I have strong memories of times shared in those teenage years...driving to the beach in Joe Thomas' VW van, the Beach Boys blaring, Mike singing loud and strong, making us laugh. Mike running into the Atlantic Ocean, fearless, body surfing big waves back to shore, huge smile on his face as the water carried him onto sand. He made it look so easy, effortless. Singing Elton John's Crocodile Rock in his car, "Betsy". Shooting pool in our basement, a comically-deep Jim Morrison voice singing along with the Doors. Sitting at our kitchen table joking with our family, goofing around with our dog Chips, we all loved him, his presence lit up the room. Thank you dear Mike, you will be deeply missed.

Michael was always brimming over with energy and passion -- whether it was enthusiastically asking Danielle's friends for updates on our lives when we visited, listening carefully and giving thoughtful advice, or capturing all of our attention with his storytelling. He always imbued whatever room he was in with so much life, so much fire. He had such a keen moral sensibility as well, a sense for what was right and just. His kids inherited that. Michael made a big impact on everyone who met him. We will all miss him.

My dear, dear friend Mike, you left us way too soon.  I mourn the memories the four of us had yet to create, but cherish the nearly 30 years of experiences we did share.  (That wedding photo of you and Simone just reaffirms what we agreed to for years - you married way out of your league!!)

Your integrity, intelligence, curiosity about so many things, goofy smile, goofier laugh and sense of humor, deep love and pride in your family, weird Brooklyn accent (!), wonderful story-telling, and genuine warmth and friendship - these are what I already miss, and will continue to treasure going forward.

Know that your legacy for caring and giving to others will continue with your wonderful family.

I miss you deeply, my friend.

Bruce

Simone, Brennen, Danielle, Marissa,

Michael was such a light. I am so blessed to have had so many interactions with him as you kids matriculated through ACMS. Back to school, crab feeds, sports, etc. Moosetracks for life. Love to all of you.
