Michael Edward Monaghan, 66, Indianapolis, IN (Mimbres, NM) passed away on August 10th, 2022 in Mimbres, New Mexico. He was born on February 3rd, 1956 in Indianapolis, IN.

Survivors include wife Elizabeth Monaghan; son, John Monaghan; daughter, Katy (Marcus) Bailey; sisters, Frances (Jerry) Ryan and Catherine Bailey; brother, Steve (Stephanie) Monaghan; grandchildren Major and Brooklynn.

Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Audrey Monaghan; father, John E. Monaghan; and brothers, Patrick and Timothy Monaghan.

Mike was a graduate of Plainfield High School, 1975. After graduating high school, Mike graduated from the Lincoln Tech Diesel Mechanic program.

Mike joined the Perry Township Fire Department in November of 1989. He was assigned to the Squad and in mid-2000, he became a paramedic. He had achieved the level of Lieutenant in August of 2008 and retired from the Indianapolis Fire Department in December 2010. He married his wife Elizabeth in November of 2011.

After retiring from the Fire Department, Mike opened an HVAC/General Purpose Repair business and thoroughly enjoyed the daily challenge of fixes and repairs. Being very mechanically inclined, Mike was always at the ready for any family member or friend who needed a problem solved.

In January 2019, Mike and Beth moved to Mimbres, New Mexico to live out his retirement dream of hiking and exploring the wild west. Mike was an active member of the Single-Action Shooter’s Society as well as the Mimbres Volunteer Fire Department.

Mike was a pillar in his family, and enjoyed family reunions, shooting skeet, and telling funny stories of his life experiences.
