Michael's obituary
It is with sincere sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Miles. Born on April 5, 1950, he sadly departed from us on February 18, 2023. A man marked by his outgoing, honest, loyal, loving, caring, and humble personality, Michael's memory will continue to live within our hearts. His actions displayed his amazing capacity to love, making his absence felt heavily by all who had the privilege to know him.
Michael was a proud Harvard University graduate of the year 1969. His career journey saw him retire from three admirable places of work. The Miles Group Realty in 2015, the Registry of Deeds, Salem, MA in 2005, and finally from Fema/SBA in 2021. Among his most notable accomplishments was starting a construction company at the young age of 21 with just $100. He also had a hand in building Terminal C in Logan Airport, and significantly contributed to the rebuilding of New Orleans post-hurricane for Fema. Michael also ran the Registry of Deeds in Salem for many years.
A loving father, Michael welcomed his son, Joshua Miles, into the world on September 26, 1998, whose legacy keeps his memory alive. He was predeceased by his father, Albert Miles, and mother, Rosemary Miles. Today, he leaves behind his beloved wife, Susan Cronin-Miles, and his son, Joshua, along with many who dearly loved him.
Michael had a variety of interests. He had an all-encompassing love for books, and his favorite music included tunes from Eric Clapton and Fleetwood Mac. A fan of television, his preferred shows were NCIS and Blue Bloods, while John Wick stood as his favorite movie. An avid sports fan, he enthusiastically cheered for the Patriots and Celtics. The favorite colors that he held close to his heart were hues of blue.
His favorite foods were steak, Italian subs, and pizza, always paired with a Pepsi. He enjoyed visiting local spots such as The Lito, Gregs Bistro, and The Continental and spending time at the beach with his good friend Bob Milot. When it came to vacations, Bermuda, Florida, and New Orleans were his top choices.
Michael was a man of cause and deeply cared about politics. He enjoyed helping others and spent much of his time with friends. Walking was his preferred mode of exercise. 'Do to others what you want done to yourself', a lesson Michael lived by and passed on.
Michael will be remembered as a man who made significant impacts both personally and professionally. He was loved by many and will be missed by even more. We take this time to celebrate his life, cherishing each moment we had with him, and bid him a peaceful journey ahead.
