It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Mercer, who left us on March 18, 2025. Born on September 18, 1967, Michael was a beloved family man, friend, and committed professional.

Michael leaves behind his son, Andrew Mercer, and his daughter-in-law, Ashley Mercer. He is also survived by his step-mother, Cindy Mercer, his brother, Alan Mercer, and his partner, June Humphrey. He is predeceased by his father, James Mercer, and his sister, Rhonda Castagna. The joy of fatherhood touched Michael especially on November 24, 1991, when he welcomed his son into the world.

Among Michael's favorite pastimes were fishing and gambling, and he was a formidable player at the chessboard. He was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan and one of his favorite vacation destinations was Las Vegas, while locally, he loved to frequent Graton Casino. For Michael, simple pleasures brought great joy - a bowl of fruit with milk, a refreshing Budweiser or Grape Gatorade, and listening to "Hysteria" by Def Leppard. The color green held a special place in his heart.

Known for his unwavering work ethic, Michael often shared his philosophy that hard work was the way to achieve a gratifying life. His greatest accomplishment, he often said, was his son. Professionally, he took great pride in his work as a master painter, journeyman, and handyman.

Many will remember Michael as a man who was "accurate over correct", a testament to his uncompromising precision and integrity. He was the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it - a true testament to his heart of gold. His legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him.

We mourn our loss, but take comfort in knowing Michael is now free from pain. He left us far too soon and he will be missed always.
