Michael's obituary

Michael Steven McMayo was born on September 02, 1943, in Trinidad and Tobago, the second child of Glouster and Margaret McMayo. He attended primary school at Belmont Boys RC and secondary school at Progressive Educational Institute. After graduation, he trained to be a draftsman.

In 1964, seeking better educational opportunities, he embarked on a journey to the United States. He settled in New York, where he pursued his dreams of architectural education.

In his early years in New York, Michael worked diligently to support himself, becoming a cab driver and honing his skills as a draftsman. In 1974, he entered into marriage, though the union was short-lived. However, his path ultimately led him to know the Lord. He was saved and became a devoted Christian. He dedicated countless hours to sharing the love of God with others. His unwavering faith led him to travel to numerous countries and host many individuals for church conventions, touching the lives of countless souls.

When his job relocated, Michael pursued his new passion for iridology and alternative medicine. This inspired him to establish Hebron Health Food Store in Brooklyn and later, a branch in Trinidad.

Michael is survived by a host of loving family members, including his son, Miguel, grandson, Mikheil, and daughter-in-law Michelle. He is also remembered fondly by his siblings, Ken, Gary, Carl, Joseph, Hosanna, Eugene, and Louis, and his many nieces and nephews, all of whom cherished the bond they shared with him. His sister Cynthia passed away six days after him.

Michael peacefully departed this world on September 9, 2023. His journey on this earth may have come to an end, but his legacy of faith, love, and service to others will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. As he enters the eternal embrace of his Lord, we take solace in the knowledge that he now rests in peace, having faithfully fulfilled his earthly duties.
