Site Specific Dance Performance "Face of Time" by Jessica Chappe
I am deeply saddened to hear of Michael's passing. As a past AHPA Board member I truly enjoyed working with Michael and being fortunate enough to experience his friendship, knowledge and wisdom. He will truly be missed.
So sad to hear of Michael's passing.  I always enjoyed getting together with him when he came to DC, and he always said he wanted to visit us at our cottage in Maine.  Sorry this won' t happen now.  He was smart, funny, and kind, and was happy to bring people together, share views, and share good times.  I am grateful for our many years of friendship and am sorry that he is no longer with us.

Michael was a dedicated colleague committed to making plant-based dietary supplements and therapeutics more widely available.  He was also committed to enhancing the science behind their use.  I directed the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements for many years and interacted with Michael from 1999-2018.  He was always a wonderful person to work with.  We collaborated on projects more than once.  We may have disagreed about things once in a while, but never with rancor, always with friendship.  I learned a lot from Michael and will always miss him.

Michael and Tony used to have to walk past the side of my house on Kershaw Ave on the way to Nether Providence middle/high school. I would dash out the front door so I could join them. Tony remained a good friend (hi Tony) till this day, but Michael! What a kind soul. He used to call me blue. He said I always wore blue. Funny the things you remember. Rest in peace Michael and love to all who loved him.
Michael was amazing in so many ways. I miss him. He is in forever in my heart!

I offer my condolences and prayers to Michael's family as they grieve his passing. My first job after graduating from college was a government relations assistant position at a partner trade association. I would often collaborate with Michael and his team at AHPA to advance the priorities of an industry he devoted much of his professional life to supporting and fostering. It was a blessing then, as it is now, to have met him and learn from him and see with my own eyes his sharp wit and wealth of knowledge. I will forever be grateful to him and the community of industry professionals that I still call my friends and colleagues.

"Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen."

Remembering the man, the myth and the legend of Michael.   Having known him for more than 50 years I can attest to his honesty, intensity and  light.   He found ways to make all he touched better and more complete.   A messianic touch.
I was often in touch with Michael , over many years, on herbal issues, and he attended and spoke at several HFMA events when he was in the UK.   He was a lovely man -  kind, generous and so knowledgeable - and is much missed.   Penny Viner, President Health Food Manufacturers' Association UK.

When did I first meet Michael…

When did I first meet Michael? :) Don't think at 50 weeks old, I was that impressed with my 'Irish twin'. That came later.

Michael, you will be missed. I'll remember you as kind, whip-smart, activist, deep thinker, busy but easy going, generous and a master gardener. We were on the UpS board together for several years, and shared an AHPA committee. Rest easy, dearest, you've earned it. 💖
