Here's the famous and impressive story, from police department records: "Officer Michael Lullo received the award for an incident that occurred on May 1, 1982. Officer Lullo was flagged down by a motorist, who then pulled a rifle on him and said he was going to kill the officer, but first wanted his gun. Officer Lullo, seeing many children and citizens in the area, and not wanting to initiate a gun fight, negotiated with the offender until he was distracted, then tackled him and disarmed him."
