Michael's obituary

Michael Richard La Sasso passed away on August 23, 2025 at the age of 84. He was born in Passaic, New Jersey on February 14, 1941 to Michael and Marie La Sasso. His years spent growing up on Jersey Street in Paterson were some of his fondest memories.

He met his wife, Barbara, on a blind date and they spent many happy years together with their children and grandchildren residing in New Jersey, Florida, California and finally, North Carolina.

Michael was a star baseball player and captain of the team in high school and dedicated Yankee fan. He spent some time in the Air Force and a few years at the IRS before successfully launching his own accounting firm.

Michael was an incredible chef who enjoyed cooking for family and friends as well as dining out at his favorite Italian restaurants. He had a wonderful sense of humor and would captivate the room when he shared one of his stories. When he laughed everyone laughed with him. As a source of both guidance and support, he was dedicated to his family and was a great patriarch and protector. He will be profoundly missed by all those who loved him. If the true measure of a man were to be judged by how fiercely he was loved, he would be a giant.

He leaves his wife, Barbara, a sister, Marie Hampson and her husband Daniel, his daughter Lisa Cardillo and her husband Peter, and his son, Michael La Sasso and his wife Karla. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Nicole Hylton (spouse Jeremy), Alexandra Accardi, Gabrielle Wild, (spouse Michael), Lindsey La Sasso, Michael La Sasso, two great grandchildren: Jackson Lee Hylton, and Michael Wild, Jr. (and one on the way) and cherished nieces and nephews.
