Background
Michael served on the Hoffman Homes for Youth Board of Directors for 15 years. This organization began in 1910 when George and Agnes Hoffman generously donated land and buildings to establish a safe haven for children in need—originally serving as an orphanage for vulnerable boys and girls. Their compassion set a foundation that has evolved for more than a century to meet the changing needs of youth in crisis.
Hoffman Homes serves individuals ages 6–21, providing both clinical treatment and a nurturing environment where youth can heal, grow, and thrive — including through education (via Hoffman Academy), therapeutic activities, and personalized support.
Michael volunteered for years at Community REACH in Red Lion. This local nonprofit is dedicated to helping individuals and families facing economic hardship by providing food, basic necessities, education, and crisis support with dignity and compassion. Its programs include a choice food pantry, senior food boxes, diaper assistance, children’s meal programs, life-skills education, and emergency referrals, all offered at no cost to those in need. Community REACH focuses not only on meeting immediate needs but also on helping people build stability and self-sufficiency. Donating supports hunger relief, essential resources, and long-term empowerment for vulnerable neighbors in the community. Contribute to Hoffman Homes
