Michael's obituary
Michael Irvin Flinn, 61, passed away suddenly March 18. He was self-employed in the Richmond film and production industry for almost 40 years, starting as an electrician, then transferred his love of all things mechanical to being a key grip, crafting rigs for the camera. He especially loved making camera rigs for vehicles. Mike was very curious, a creative and unique problem solver, and was VERY mechanically inclined. He had a gazillion interests: he was fascinated with airplanes and astronomy-watching videos of the international space station and airplanes landing and taking off was a favorite down time activity.
His favorite YouTube channel was This Old Tony, a creator of high quality metalworking videos. He also frequently tuned in to a live stream of a watering hole in Namibia to watch the animals congregate there. Mike was very safety conscious and made labels for EVERYTHING. He had an incredible memory and his family often joked that he should be on Jeopardy. He was very observant, had an incredibly quick wit, was 1000% genuine, and not at all materialistic. Mike loved helping others, 80's and new independent music, his wife's homemade pizza, cats, kayaking, and he especially loved his family and friends. He was tremendously loved and is deeply missed.
A burial service will be held at Rennie Memorial Presbyterian Church in Amelia (6720 Dennisville Rd, Amelia Court House, VA 23002) on Tuesday, March 25th at 2 p.m. Due to limited parking, attendees are encouraged to carpool.
**A CELEBRATION OF MIKE'S LIFE IS BEING PLANNED AND MORE INFORMATION WILL BE SHARED IN THE COMING WEEKS**
