Michael's obituary
Michael Charles Horton, 46, of Aurora, Colorado, went home to be with the Lord on September 30, 2022. Michael was born on October 30, 1975, to John and Laura Horton (Schwab) in Denver, Colorado. After Michael graduated from Hinkley High School in 1994, he pursued a degree in business at the Metropolitan State University of Denver. He was so honored to follow in his (late) father's footsteps attending Metro. as his father graduated in the first class from this school. After graduation, he worked in the ICC/IT Global Security Operations and Technology field utilizing his degree with one company for over twenty-three years. During those years Michael proudly welcomed his only son, Anthony into the world in 2004, who immediately became the center of his life.
Michael had many passions, hobbies, and interests throughout his lifetime. In his early childhood days, he enjoyed being a boy scout, playing the trumpet, exploring outdoors, and spending time with his dad doing most anything that a boy would do. It wouldn't take long until he found his unending love and dedication for the game of baseball and could be found at any given time on the diamond, behind home plate. The love of the game stayed with him up until his very last breath. As he grew into his teen years, he quickly found passions for weightlifting, lowrider cars and trucks (which he had both and won competitions), and spending time with close friends. Becoming an adult, Michael then acquired a love of history and geography, learning Spanish as a second language, music of all genres, being a food critic, and family ancestry. Michael had a great love for others and above all for his family and friends. He knew how to light up a room when he walked into it, he always had a joke to tell, he could put a smile on anyone's face, and there's nothing that he enjoyed more than being in the company of those he loved.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, John (Laura) Horton, both maternal and paternal grandparents, Charles (Marie) Frasca and Charles (Leone) Horton, as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is survived by his son, Anthony Horton, mother and stepfather, Laura (Jack) Schwab, sister, Sheila (Steven) Gauthier, niece, Lillian Gauthier, nephew, Joseph Gauthier, nephew, Johnathon Gauthier, Leslie Rivera (mother of Anthony Horton), and numerous family and friends.
On Friday, October 28th at 11:00 am there will be an interment/burial held for Michael at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Sterling, Colorado where he will be laid to rest next to his father. A celebration of life will be held for Michael that same evening in Aurora, Colorado at Rendezvous Restaurant at Heather Gardens from 4:00 - 7:00 pm.
