Bricen Hakeman
Kankakee County, IL, USA

For memory sake, I wanted to share/post a few testimonials from Mike’s (my dad) clients over the years. He cared so much about making the best of bad situations and reading these, him being a lighthouse in someone’s storm, were heartwarming.

If you knew my dad, you know, “If you want something to be different and memorable, it’s all about the little details.”, and I see his “little details” made a powerful impact on so many people.

We were exceptionally pleased with our choice of funeral services provider, and in particular with our funeral director, Mike Hakeman. He was so reassuring and comforting during this extremely emotional and stressful time. We couldn't have been more pleased with the honor and respect given to our loved on and our family.

Mike, Thank you so much for the beautiful, wonderful, caring way you helped us lay our precious father to rest today. The work you do is purposeful and eternal and makes a huge difference in people's lives. Also, the laminated obituaries are just amazing!!! That beautiful, personal touch means so much!

Mike, We would like to say thank you for all you did for us. Without your kindness, our daughter's funeral would have been a lot harder to get through. This world needs more people like you.

Dear Mike, Please know how grateful we are for your amazing hospitality and kindness. You and the wonderful lady that stayed with us at the wake showed our family such kindness and made this very sad time a more pleasant experience than we anticipated. You have such a gentle presence and sincerity that will never be forgotten. You showed the upmost respect for my father, family, friends and to our beloved Honey. Thank you for allowing us to say good bye in a beautiful and unique way that we know she would have loved. Thank you for remembering our names each time you saw us and for the handshakes and concern for our father. We won't soon forget your kindness.

Jill M.

Mike Hakeman, We want to thank for your kindness, concern, and efforts during the passing of our mother. We genuinely appreciate how you handled the many details of her funeral. Your courtesy and professionalism will always be remembered and recommended to others. Many thanks,

Lois M.

We are the second generation to use your facilities. It seems my mom's whole family called you folks when needed. We have had our funeral plans for years here. Mike Hakeman helped my son and me make all the arrangements. Mike is a tower of patience, helpfulness, kindness and caring. He made one of the saddest times in my life more bearable with his gentle suggestions. Thank you Mike.

I have many wonderful and fond memories of our younger years when Mike and family lived nearby in Sioux City, and the holiday trips they made to Sanborn after moving to Ohio and came to visit Grandpa and Grandma Hakeman.  We always had so much fun being crazy kids, one 4th of July in particular that has been etched in my mind.  I will always remember the trip that Uncle Bob and Aunt Sonnie invited me to join the family at the Kraft's lake house, it was an awesome trip and such a great opportunity to get closer to my cousins!  While I missed out on many reunions over my adult years, Mike certainly made an indelible impression with his many accomplishments, good nature and fun-loving attitude when I did have the opportunity to reunite.

Sending all my love, thoughts and prayers to Val, Bricen, Brent, Samantha and the entire family.

With heartfelt sympathy,

Kris Hakeman

You know when you first meet someone first impression are something.   When we first met Mike which was through the Brawlers wrestling club. We became FAMILY. my ex( who passed away) Torry would call Mike , Dr Hakeman because he thought he was a Dr., only because Mike was always dressed so nice.  Lol.. little did we know Val would become torrys Dr. One night after one to many drinks... lol we just clicked with your family- Great memories.

No words can describe how loving and kind this man was. Val had a rock like no other, he would do anything for his family.  My heart breaks for all of you. You know I love your family so much and sorry you lost such a wonderful man. Everyone always says.. if you need anything I'll be there, we know that's not always true. I am always a call away I promise!! Val take that prayer shaw and wrap it tight around you and know I'm giving you such Big hugs.

I'm sending you so much strength to get through this, knowing he's looking out for all of you on your journey without him in person, but we know in spirit he will be right there! I love all of you and sending my Biggest Hugs. I love you! ❤️
