I am so sad to hear this news. I have so many fond memories of your family when I had the privilege of caring for Bricen, Samantha and Brent when they were little. I am praying for your whole family ❤️

Tim and I were so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. I so enjoyed my phone calls with him and the texts he would send me. We knew him since his youth coming over to spend time with our son Scott. Our deepest sympathy.

I met Hakes in the early 70's at Nelson Russ Rec Center not far from his house playing pond hockey with our other buddy Brian "Skinny" Irwin. What Hakes endured in his fight against cancer was more than anyone could imagine. He left us all in awe.

Sorry for your loss, Mike and I grew up together in the funeral business. We went on a Batesville trip together 25+ years ago, and he then became my Champion rep. , we always enjoyed catching up at conventions. He was very respected for his knowledge as well as his integrity. God Bless

Our condolences to your family from all of us Gabel's. There are so many good and crazy memories that we have shared as friends. However the Dr. Hakeman always make me smile. I swear everyone thought he was a Dr. He might as well went back to school for that, everyone was asking advice.
I remember when he would tease me because I though Bricen was a made up son lol. One night we were all partaking in drinks in the back yard and this young man walks in. I almost fell off the chair and we laughed all night because I finally met him.
Mike was always so invested in our kids and many others for wrestling and football. He was the epitome of a walking community man. I loved his passion for family and competition.
I know that Mike would want everyone to live life to the fullest and not look back but that is a hard task when you lose a man like him. There are many things we can learn from turning around and appreciating the past and the family and friends we have lost. I will choose to draw in his kindness and strength and always remember the man who had a soft smile and fierce love for so many in his tribe.
Love Always,
The Gabel's
