Mike's obituary
Michael Alfred Grishaver, of Eugene, Oregon, passed away unexpectedly on August 5, 2024, at the age of 55.
Michael was born on September 23, 1968, in San Diego. He grew up in Eugene and attended South Eugene High School, where he graduated in 1987.
He went on to study at the University of California, Berkeley, where he became a proud member of the Kappa Alpha fraternity. During his time at Berkeley, Michael built many lifelong friendships and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. His passion for science led him to pursue further studies at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Michael's interest in technology and medicine intersected early in his career, leading him to a role at WebMD. Over the years, he made significant contributions at several prominent companies, including Yahoo, Etsy, and Pandora, where his work left a lasting impact.
Outside of his professional achievements, Michael was known for his many passions. He was an avid tennis player, a devoted music enthusiast, and a supporter of social causes that were close to his heart. He cherished time spent outdoors, embraced the practice of meditation, and was a lifelong animal lover. Mike loved Tuck and Minna, our two dogs, as well as Izzy and Ned, our two cats of 17 years. He also loved to garden, discuss politics, explore the intricacies of the world, and muse about the future.
His smile was full of sunshine, and he was the best friend you'll ever have. Michael's heart was full when surrounded by nature and those he loved.
Michael will be remembered for his quick wit, unique sense of humor, and sharp intelligence. His presence left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered, and his memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
Michael is survived by his wife Kate Chadd.
