Mike's obituary

It is with much sorrow the family of Michael Joseph Frade, 66, announces his passing on April 4, 2025 in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Mike was born on July 5, 1958 in New Bedford, Massachusetts to Joseph and Martha Frade.

He was a 1977 graduate of New Bedford Voke, where he took courses in automobile mechanics. He used the skills he learned and his love of cars to restore older cars, sometimes from the frame up, bringing them back to life. His last project was a 1934 Ford Coupe that took him years to complete due to his meticulous personality to get it right.

He loved dogs, especially Dutch Shepherds. He enjoyed spending time with the two he raised and trained, Fawkes and Tango, who will miss him as much as his family will.

He had recently retired from Veolia, N.A. and moved back to Alamogordo, New Mexico, where he had previously worked for US Filter from 2000 to 2002 as a manager, who serviced the Alamogordo Waterworks Department, before returning to New Bedford.

During his time in Alamogordo, he fell in love with the town and its people. He couldn't wait to return there to spend his retirement days tinkering on projects and enjoying life with his wife, Christine.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Christine Frade; his parents, Joseph and Martha Frade; siblings, Donna (Steve) McKane, Scott (Bonnie) Frade, and Diana (Amanda) Fox; along with many nieces, nephews, and family friends.

The family requests Mike's memory be held and honored within your hearts as the friend he always tried to be to everyone he met.

A private Celebration of Life is being planned for family and close friends in New Bedford.
