Mike's obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Angelo Crisci on December 4, 2024, at the age of 71. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.
Born on October 6, 1953, Michael spent his life in the family home in Niles, IL, where he grew up.
Michael dedicated much of his life to teaching and sharing his love of music. He served as a music educator in the Catholic school system for many years, teaching at St. Juliana’s School in Chicago and, prior to that, at St. Domitilla’s in Hillside. He was also deeply involved in music ministry at St. Isaac Jogues and Our Lady of Ransom in Niles. Over the years, he directed bell choirs for numerous events and parades in Chicago.
In addition to his work in education and music ministry, Michael enjoyed a second career at the Niles Historical Society, where he contributed to preserving the area's rich history.
Outside of his professional life, Michael was an enthusiastic computer hobbyist with a passion for learning. In recent years, he found a creative outlet through writing, particularly in the Furry Fandom genre, where he went by the name Dineegla Moose. Michael was also a founding member of the "Muscle Furs," a sub-group within the fandom.
A talented artist, Michael was especially known for his pen-and-ink drawings, with a sharp eye for detail. He often used his artistic skills to design program covers for school and church performances, and in later years, he created cartoons and stories for the Furry fandom.
Michael’s passing marks the end of a significant chapter in the lives of many who knew him. He is survived by his brothers, Joseph Crisci, Jerry Crisci, and John Crisci, along with a host of friends and extended family. He was predeceased by his beloved husband of 12 years, Mark Carter (also known as MuscleWolf), and his brother, Vincent Crisci.
The details of the memorial service will be shared once available.
As we reflect on Michael’s life, we remember him as a person shaped by his experiences, passions, and relationships. While his journey was not always easy, Michael’s presence touched many, and he will be remembered fondly by those who loved him. May he rest in peace, and may those who mourn his loss find comfort in their cherished memories.
