Michael's obituary

Michael Cannon left to travel the great unknown on October 13, 2024 from his hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Michael was 69 years old and had recently had surgery at the time of passing.

Michael Douglas Cannon was born in Chicago. IL on Dec. 6, 1954 to Alford Cannon and Geneva Winchester Cannon, and passed away on Oct. 13, 2024 at Mercy Hospital in St Louis, Mo. . He had 3 half brothers..Richard Travis, Alford Ray C.  and James Cannon.

Mike graduated from Salem, Ill High School and immediately joined the Army. After Basic he had extensive computer training and was posted to the Forrestal Bldg, in DC, then to the Pentagon. He was based there until health problems forced a medical discharge.

He earned a Aerospace Engineering degree from University of Illinois, and studied other subjects of interest while attending classes with his first wife, Rebecca Sands of Salem, IL.

In later years Mike served on the Police forces in Hanford, CA. and Wamac, IL. , but he most enjoyed the years he spent in Las Vegas, Nv. He designed and made neon signs and designed the 'foam' fronts/facades for the Casinos, and designed sets and equipment for the entertainers to do shows, including for the magician Criss Angel.. He completed an extensive industrial course and spent his last years there in the department. that kept the Luxor Casino { Pyramid shaped} running smoothly.

After retiring to his old neighborhood near rural Salem, Ill. he enjoyed making elaborate fireworks displays and 'playing' with his 3D Printer. His last few years were spent with his High School sweetheart, Linda Gougher and her family, who treated him like family.

Mike attended Romine Church of the Brethren in rural Salem , but was baptized by Rev. Billy Graham at a rally when he was at the Pentagon. At his request his ashes will be interred at the Cannon cemetery in the mountains of Kentucky.
