Mike's obituary

Michael (Mike) Anthony Breganti went home to Jesus on October 14th at age 67, after courageously fighting a year-long battle with lung cancer, peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Mike was born to Lillian and Angelo Breganti on May 8th, 1954 in Brooklyn, NY. As a child, Mike loved community, family, and creating lifelong bonds with friends. As a young man, Mike enjoyed singing and playing guitar for creative expression.

Mike met his love, lifelong partner and wife, Trisha Marsilio, in the 70's, as classmates at Clarkstown North High School. They married on September 8th, 1973 and started their family having 3 beautiful children, Michael, Andrea, and Christopher. Living and working locally in Nyack, NY, Mike had a successful career with the Clarkstown Highway Department, retiring 37 years later. In addition to being a dedicated and loving father, Mike also was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed spending time in nature, hiking, hunting, and fishing with friends & family. His passion for working with his hands included leatherworking and woodcarving.  In addition, through the years, Mike developed quite a skill for cooking, family and friends would happily gather, on many an occasion, to enjoy his lovingly prepared meals. Throughout his life, he held an unwavering faith in God, which he passionately shared with those who surrounded him, always on call, ministering to friends in need.

Mike is welcomed home by loving family, preceded by mothers & fathers, loving aunts and uncles, brothers, and sisters in Heaven. He is survived by his wife Trisha, who has been faithfully by his side for 48 years, their three children, Michael, Andrea, and Christopher, and their amazing spouses, Ariana, and Lon, along with seven beautiful grandchildren (Cejay, Nicholas, Jason, Angelina, Greenlee, Vivian, and Cole), sister Mary Ann, & numerous nieces and nephews, and an amazing aggregate of in-laws, cousins, aunts & friends, who love and adore him, beyond expression.

We are grateful to have had Mike in our lives, as a beacon of faith & compassion, a mentor, a guide, and spiritual leader, a brother (blood or chosen), a father, grandfather, an uncle, and a cousin, paving our journey as we strive to be better & more empathetic humans.

Mike has touched each of our lives with an endless compassion.

Psalm 73:26

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
