Michael John Bodnar Jr.

October 15, 1944 - April 15, 2025.

Michael John Bodnar Jr., 80, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2025. Born in Newark, New Jersey, to Margaret and Michael Bodnar, Michael lived a full life marked by dedication, warmth, and a heart bigger than his smile.

Michael began his career as a mechanic, a trade that reflected his love for working with his hands. His skills and determination eventually led him to a long and fulfilling career as a bus and truck driver. Whether on the road or on the water his true passion, Michael always found joy in movement, freedom, and the journey itself. An avid boater, he cherished his time spent on the water.

Above all, Michael loved his family deeply. He found happiness in the time shared with those closest to him and was a constant source of strength, humor, and kindness. His legacy lives on in the countless memories he helped create and the lessons he quietly taught by example.  He had the biggest heart in every room and could make you laugh even when you didn’t want to, and he was someone who showed love in the quietest but most powerful ways

Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Bernadette Bodnar; his children Chastity Havens, Michael Bodnar, Carolyn Cummins, and Suzanne Edele; and his cherished grandchildren: Lylah, Liam, and Levi Havens; Madison and Kevin Bodnar; Kaitlin, Courtney, and Arthur Cummins; and Tonya and Stephanie Edele. He is also survived by his sisters, Lori Abbot and Dianne Greggins.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Patricia Bodnar; his grandson Bryan Bodnar; his brother Richie Bodnar; and his sisters Anna Yeachshein and Margaret Gracia.

A memorial service to honor Michael’s life will be scheduled at a later date. In the meantime, his family asks that those who knew and loved him hold his memory close and remember the joy he brought into the world.
