Michael's obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael "Boopie" Blanchard, dearly known and referred to by many as Boopie. Born on May 28, 1952, Michael left us on February 10, 2021, leaving a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Michael leaves behind a loving family, his wife, Thelma Blanchard who he married in 1974, his daughters; Ann Margaret Blanchard, Michelle Lee Blanchard, and Marie Jane Blanchard, his brother, Gerry Blanchard, his grandchildren; Mikayla Blanchard, Michael Bruce II Blanchard Bayquen, Mikanie Sanz Blanchard Bayquen, Michael Walker and Madelyn Sky Walker.
Michael was a unique individual with an incomparable personality. He was best described as funny, different, and genius. His recreational activities included grooming his Persian Cat Neo. His love for his pets was evident in his cause, where he cared about finding his stolen Persian cat, Hansel. Michael had a taste for chilly (won a cook off at Harley Davidson in San Jose) and was a fan of the Steve Corbett show.
In 1977, Michael started his journey at Apple, a journey that would redefine and shape his professional life. He was a founder at COAX, an organization that was a significant part of his life. In 2005, Michael took a liking to Harleys, which became a prominent feature in his life. His wisdom and passion were beautifully encapsulated in his life lesson - "There are people that can ride, and there are people that CAN RIDE!"
Michael's legacy is cemented in his many accomplishments. His notable achievement was the discovery of the action of ejecting the front face disc on the 20th-anniversary Mac Spartacus. He was a long loyal employee at Apple and was known as Boopie among the guys at Bandley 5 & king ham radio operator N6MBB. He had the privilege of working with Steve Wozniak and was even mentioned in a book by Steve Jobs. His love for bikes was published in the thunder press magazine for his chopper purchased at San Jose Harley, and also featured in the Gilroy wind on Boss Hoss.
Michael's departure is a significant loss to us, but his life, achievements, and memories will forever remain in our hearts. He will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives were touched by his distinctive personality and incredible work.
