Michael and Rene's obituary

On January 28, 2023, Michael and Rene Sherwood were fatally shot in their home in Pleasanton, Texas, at the ages of 60 and 56, respectively. Rene was born to Sharon and Butch Reeves in June 1966. Michael was born to Eve McElroy in November 1962. In 1989, Michael and Rene were married.

Rene was a proud mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, and so much more. She was a beautiful soul that was taken way too soon. She loved working with kids as she was a bus driver for the Santa Maria and Ventura school districts for many years. She loved being a referee for the game of basketball. But she loved nothing more than making her boys happy. She would do anything for them. Anything. She would trade her happiness away forever just to see her boys smile. That’s the type of mother she was.

Michael was a dedicated father, husband, brother, son and friend. Michael was the light of any party and was taken too soon. He loved making people laugh. He always seemed to come up with a new silly dad joke and everyone loved his sense of humor. He was a very hard worker. At one point, he worked three jobs so his wife Rene, could stay at home with their boys. Later in his career, he became a truck driver, bought his own truck and started his own business in Texas. Michael always did for others without expecting anything in return.

Michael and Rene are survived by their two sons, Justin Sherwood and Logan Sherwood and grandchildren Jayden and Linken Sherwood. Michael is also survived by his sister, Kristal Robertson, and his brother, Paul Cornwell. Rene is also survived by her parents, Sharon Silva, Butch and Sherry Reeves, her sisters Terri Johnson (Nate) and Kaylynne Hartley (Mike) and her brothers Rick Reeves (Lisa), Paul Silva (Cindy) and Jay Silva, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and other loved ones. A memorial service for Michael and Rene will be held on Saturday, March 11 at 11:00 am at New Life Church in Pismo Beach, Ca. Light refreshments will be available during the ceremony and a reception will follow.
