It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael A. King, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, who left us on May 14, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on April 26, 1954, Michael was the cherished son of Margaret "Peggy" Victoria Zahezeska Griffin King and Timothy King.
Michael spent his early years in Quincy, MA, before moving to Dover, where he lived with his beloved grandmother, Josie, and "The Mister." His deep roots in the community and his unwavering loyalty to family and friends defined his life. Michael was a devoted husband to Kathy, and together they created a warm and loving home filled with laughter and joy.
An avid sports fan, Michael passionately supported all Boston teams, and his enthusiasm extended to helping local school sports teams, where he was a familiar and encouraging presence. His empathy and loyalty made him a steadfast friend, always ready to lend a listening ear or a helping hand. Michael had a remarkable gift for remembering people, places, and events, which allowed him to connect others and forge lasting friendships wherever he went.
Michael was a graduate of Dover Sherborn High School and attended the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul Minnesota. In his professional life, Michael enjoyed a successful career in retail, working at TJX and Bloomingdale's, where he was known for his dedication and kindness. He also found fulfillment as a beloved substitute teacher in the Sandwich School System, where he inspired and nurtured countless students.
Michael’s sense of humor and fun-loving nature brought light to every gathering, and he had a special love for his family, especially his beloved pets, Tessi and Mac. He is survived by his son, Greg, and his wife, Kathy, his stepsons Nick, Steve (Maureen) and their two children Colin and Owen. He is also survived by his sisters Cathy Mahoney (Jake), Maureen King (Marie), Sharon Heard (George) and Patricia Poor (Tom), along with nieces and nephews and numerous cousins who will miss him dearly.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the Most Precious Blood Church at 30 Centre St Dover, MA at 11:00 am where friends and family can come together to honor the remarkable man he was. A luncheon will immediately follow the service at the Dover American Legion, 32 Dedham St. Dover, MA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a local charity supporting youth sports, a cause that was close to Michael’s heart or a charity of your choice.
