Mia's obituary

Devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Mia Lynn Gibbs, left our world unexpectedly on Monday, July 29th, 2024 surrounded by her family.

A kind and nurturing soul, Mia was born August 21, 1959 at Johnson Air Force Base, Japan to parents Raymond Lucier, and Launa Beall Miller. Mia moved with her family from Japan to Waco, TX then Ft. Walton Beach, FL. A 1977 graduate of Choctawhatchee High School, Mia made many of her fondest memories with her friends and family on the beaches of the Emerald Coast. It was there she met the love of her life, Jerry. She and Jerry married on August 22nd, 1980, at the historic Wonderland Hotel in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and from that day forth, they were rarely apart. They spent nearly 44 joyful years together, raising a family, laughing often, and loving each other unconditionally. In her later years, her greatest joys came from spending time with her grandchildren.

Mia will always be remembered for her contagious laugh, disarming smile, kind heart, sympathetic soul, and indomitable spirit. Mia was a courageous fighter, loyal friend, and the most loving mother a child could ever have. She felt deeply for others, loved fiercely, and left a wake of comfort wherever she went. Her family meant everything to her. She went out of her way to express her love for them through the meals she cooked, the wonderful holidays she created, the gardens she planted, and the grace with which she lived her life. In her free time, she could often be found in one of her spots, reading books, feeding and watching her birds, and playing with her dog, Moki, all while enjoying one of her Cokes. Up until the day she passed, Mia was a beacon of light, laughter, compassion, and love.

Those who knew her, loved her, most notably the family she leaves behind. Son, Adam and daughter, Katie loved her deeply and were by her side as she was called home to God’s kingdom. She was grateful they both found love and treated their spouses, Amy (Sullivan) and Kyle (Anderson) as family. She is survived by her sisters, Jane (Tony) Pullicino, Martha (Kevin) Henry, Mary Miller, brother, Chris (Libby) Miller, grandchildren, Eli, Jack, Nali, Bela, and Killian, nieces and nephews, Marcus, Anthony, Elise, Kim, Robert, Michael, Christopher, Tyler, George, Chad, Taylor, Shelby, Reed, Matthew, and Emily. All of them will carry her memory with them in their hearts forever. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Best Friends Animal Society in her honor.
