I was saddened when I heard the news of Merrill's death. She was a thoughtful and caring individual. We met at the Old Collier Club in Naples; Merrill and Bayard were a frequent presence at the club, and Merrill's warmth was evident. After Big Bay died, as Merrill referred to Bayard, I would see Merrill, and her radiant smile was as welcoming as ever. She mourned Big Bay and celebrated their long, happy marriage. I was surprised to learn through her obituary she was 95 years old; she had the energy and gait of someone 30 years younger. In all the many years I knew Merrill, I never heard her complain about anyone or anything. She loved her family, her faith, and her friends. I will miss Merrill, and my prayers are with her family.Â

My condolences to Merrill's family. I first met Merrill when we were both living at the Sherry Netherland, how marvelous it was of Merrill to include us in the inner circle she and Bayard had gathered. Our friendship was one of decades, learning, sharing, and at time grieving. I shall miss my dear friend, and will think of our years together as friends often.Â

My sincere condolences to the family of Mimi (Merrill). She was a joy to be around and even more so to love and have that loved returned. I met Merrill and Bayard through a very good friend and colleague, over dinner one evening in Manhattan, I felt as if I had known them my entire life. Mimi will be missed by so many, the least of whom me. I had made it to the ranks of being deserving to refer to Merrill as Mimi, that is lofty.Â
Sincerely
Ken Griffin
