Merrick “Rick” Hostetter Cook, of Lithia Florida, passed away peacefully in his home on December 12, 2023, at the age of 83 due to complications of heart failure.

He was the beloved father of four children; Robert Cook and his wife Stephanie of Sandpoint Idaho, Wanda Keller and her husband Anton of Lithia Florida, Teresa Cook of Salt Lake City Utah, and Kenneth Cook of Lithia Florida, grandfather of 20, great-grandfather of 34, and great-great-grandfather of 3.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Terry McDonald Cook Jr. and Anna Fae (Woods), his wife Gloria Alice (Fox), his brother Harry Robert Cook, his sister Verna Jean Hill, and a grandson Merrick Emanuel Ellis.

He is survived by his brother William Rodney Hill.

We are thankful for the knowledge that, through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we will meet again. Rick came down on this earth, partook of mortal life and a physical body, and passed through a probation of mortality. He held many positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He touched many lives. He was loved and will be missed so very much.

We look forward to the great and glorious day of the resurrection which should be brought about through the atonement of The Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, at which time our spirit and body will be reunited, and we will be judged and received into a kingdom of glory.

There will not be a funeral service held. There will be a small graveside service on Friday, December 15, 2023, for the family. The family asks that donations to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints be made instead of flowers or other gifts.
