Merrell's obituary

Merrell Earl Pettigrew passed peacefully in his sleep on September 5, 2023. Merrell was born on February 15, 1966 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Barbara Fenn Pettigrew and Billy Pettigrew. He graduated from Tara High School in Baton Rouge in 1985 and attended LSU. Merrell specialized in AC repairs, working in maintenance at hospitals and other facilities throughout his career.

Merrell is preceded in death by his parents, Barbara and Billy. He is survived by his sisters, Belinda Pettigrew Juneau (Marty), Pamela Pettigrew Bertucci (Gino), former wife Kris McCain Pettigrew, and children Jake Pettigrew and Trey Pettigrew.

Merrell never knew a stranger and he called everybody Cuz. He was friendly and adventurous, loved his friends and family, and loved getting together with them. He loved dirt bike riding, flying remote planes and building and flying model airplanes. He had a knack for building and creating things, and would always take apart, fix, and reconfigure dirt bikes, planes, cars and motorcycles. He was always creating something new and unique, and he passed this onto his sons, who are both builders and creators. Merrell loved spending time on the water, boating, fishing, waterskiing, and everything in between. He enjoyed sharing his love of cars (especially fast and loud ones) with his friends and children. He loved taking his friends and family out on the river whenever possible, especially his two sons, Jake and Trey.

A memorial service will be held at

The Way Church of Livingston

34301 Weiss Rd, Walker, LA

On Saturday, September 16th.

Visitation is from 10am-11am

The service will begin at 11am
