Merle's obituary

Merle Elvin Palmer born July 5,1941 in Opportunity, Montana to Frank and Maxine (Holt) Palmer, went Home to be with the Lord on February 7, 2023.

Merle moved to Missoula with his family in1950. He attended Lowell Elementary and graduated from Missoula County High School, with continuing education at Northwest Bible College in Kirkland, WA, and the University of Montana in Missoula, MT.

In 1968 he and Eva Elliott were married, they made their home in Missoula and were blessed with two sons, Jason and Brandon.

Merle worked as a carpenter for many years, in later years he drove Missoulian newspapers to Plains, MT and for some time as far as Libby, Mt.  In his blue Chevrolet or Dodge truck, his dogs Muffin or Pupper were always accompanying him on his daily trips with the daily newspapers.  Then driving the west end of a U.S. Mail truck route to Great Falls, MT.

Merle was a member of Christian Life Center and was actively involved in Glacier Bible Camp at Hungry Horse, MT.   He spent many years volunteering in the camp kitchen in the pots and pans area and was appreciated by many for his work there along with the teenagers who worked with him.

Being an avid outdoorsman, he spent countless hours fishing and hunting with his sons in the Blackfoot and Ovando areas.  He was a kind soul who seldom met a person he did not like and try to befriend.  Ruby's café was his preferred place to hang out and catch up on the day's events with his friends.
