Merian's obituary

Our dear mother Merian "Peggy" Ladell Street Hall passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at the age of 81, after a recent decline in health. She was a proud and well loved mother and grandmother, as well as a devoted friend.

Merian was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, November 8, 1942 to Ollie Harris Street (Boerne, Texas) and Eura Lee Lyons Street. She was the youngest of three children, sister Ollie Mae Latimore and brother Charles Edward Street.

Merian attended Wrenn Middle School and graduated from Edgewood High School. She studied Business at St. Philips College. Her first job was working as a secretary at Edgewood HS. After marrying into the Air Force, she had the pleasure of traveling with her family to Okinawa, Japan and Hampton, VA, finally residing in San Antonio, TX.
While raising her children, Merian worked part time in customer service/sales jobs, and later in full time positions at Datapoint and Kelly Air Force Base, San Antonio, TX.
Aside from her children, perhaps her greatest accomplishment was her being selected for a government airplane mechanic apprentice program, and after successful completion, she worked there until retirement. Merian never quit telling everyone how much she loved her job, appreciated her supervisors and enjoyed her coworkers. She liked to decorate, and was happy listening and dancing to her Motown records.
Merian is preceded in death by her parents, sister, and brother. She is survived by her children Iris Walker (Kurt), James D. Hall (Keri); grandchildren Taylor Varanda, Peyton Hall, Nyah Hall, Deron Hall, Jalyn Gibson, Cryselda Gibson and Gavin Gibson; grandchild Alayna Pena; nieces Michele Latimore and Shawn Street; nephews Glenn Latimore, Royal Street, and Robin Street; and cousins Dora Richardson, Edward Otis Street, Bobbie Bell, Gloria English, and Chester Williams Jr. She is also survived by her former spouse James M. Hall (Verdia) and children Alicia and Loren; sisters in law Kathleen Dobbins and Janie Hall; brothers in law Earl Hall and Leverett Goodson; beloved nieces and nephews; and dear friends Hannah White, Priscilla Armstrong, and Josephine Boyer.

While our mother will be greatly missed, we look forward to seeing her again someday, trusting in the good Lord, she is no longer in pain and rather at peace. (Rev 21:4)
