Melvin Douglas Wheeler, age 77, of Euclid, Ohio returned to his Maker on October 22, 2020. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Anita C. Wheeler; his two cherished children Kyle (Robin) Wheeler and Kristel (David) Wheeler; and three beloved grand-children Kayla (Stephen) Wheeler, Collin Wheeler, and Khristopher Wheeler. He is also survived by his three loving younger siblings, Bruce Hurd, Duane (Alicia) Hurd and Deborah Anderson. He was preceded in death by his son, Keith Wheeler, and his parents Mildred Clark Hurd and John Wheeler of Cleveland, Ohio by way of Georgia. Upon graduating from East High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served honorably as a member of the Nike Hercules missile crew in the Southwest United States. After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, Melvin spent 35 years working at AT&T. In his retirement he found a love in painting and renewed his interest in history and science fiction. Melvin will be remembered for his love of movies and the joy he found in swapping service stories with other Vietnam War-era veterans. In lieu of flowers, his family respectfully requests that donations be made to the American Kidney Fund in his name.
