Melvin Jay Durnell, age 71, passed away in his home on Wednesday, December 27, 2023. He was born on December 7, 1952 in Detroit, the son of Frank and Luedena “Red” Durnell. Melvin loved listening to music. He was a passionate Elvis Presley fan and enjoyed visiting Graceland.   He was proceeded in death by both of his parents, and his son, Robert Durnell. Melvin is survived by his wife, Colette Durnell. He is survived by his son, Melvin “Jay” (Lynette) Durnell of Stanton, and stepson, Blake (Christina) Bean of Canton; grandchildren Gavin Freeman, Lance Durnell, Joshua Ross, Liam Durnell, Caden Durnell, and MacKenzie Bean; siblings Steve Durnell, Charlene Goble, Frank (Jennifer) Durnell, Mary (Eric) Danowski, and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2024 from 1:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Baldwin House Senior Living, 21400 Dix Toledo Road, Brownstown Charter Twp, MI 48183.
